Privacy Policy
Rooted is a personal space for Scripture, reflection, and prayer. Your journal is private, and this page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, the name you give us, and an optional church affiliation and phone number. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from them.
- Your journal: the SOAP reflections you write, including the passages, dates, and translations you choose.
- Your progress and settings: which readings you have completed, your preferred Bible translation, and your reminder preferences.
- Basic technical information: our hosting and database providers keep standard logs, such as IP addresses and error reports, to keep the service running and secure.
How we use it
We use your information only to run Rooted: to sign you in, save and show your reflections, track your reading plan, and remember your settings. We do not sell your information, and we do not show ads.
Who can see your journal
Only you. Your reflections are protected so that one account cannot read another's. Adding a church affiliation does not give that church access to your journal.
Services we rely on
- Supabase stores your account and journal data and handles sign-in.
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Google and Apple handle sign-in when you choose those options.
- Bible text providers. When you read the ESV, NLT, NIV, CSB or NKJV, Rooted's server asks Crossway, Tyndale or API.Bible (American Bible Society) for that chapter. They don't receive your name or email. For the NIV, CSB and NKJV, your browser also sends API.Bible an anonymous usage count with a random device id, which they require to report how often each translation is read.
- Resend delivers reminder emails if you turn reminders on. It receives your email address and the reminder content.
These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the service.
Your choices
- You can edit any reflection at any time.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from the Account page. Deletion is permanent.
- You can turn daily reminder emails on or off on the Reminders page.
- You can download all of your reflections from the Account page at any time.
- You can change your email, phone number, and password on the Account page.
Children
Rooted is for people 13 and older. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
